Qala Yampu: The Lake Titicaca Reed Boat Project

It gives a brief description (in Spanish) of the project, but the last section, Carlos Ponce Sanginés (Bolivian Archaeologist) believes we, the project, plagiarized his ideas published in 1970 of where the source of the stones of Tiwanaku was. Actually we did quite the opposite. Our team member Chris Knutson cited Ponce's work in his honors thesis at The University of Pennsylvania. We used that thesis, and Ponce's valuable research in guiding us through many parts of this project. We chose Copacabana because it was the only location with deep water up to the shore line, with hills of andecite sloping to the water, facilitating easy movement and loading of a stone on our boat. We chose it simply because it made sense. We chose it because that was where we could accomplish the feat the easiest, which is probably what the ancients did. Actually our project only further supports Ponce's published ideas and we are greatful for the research he has done.
