Jan Golembiewski wrote a paper in 2003, Tiwanaku Masonry, for a class at UC Berkeley. The Lecturer was Dr. Jean Pierre Protzen, and the class was "Ancient Construction Techniques: Inka and Tiwanaku." She corresponded with several members of the Qala Yampu team in her research. Check it out. Very nice! You can download a copy of her paper, PDF Version, Tiwanaku Masonry here! Used with Jan Golembiewski's permission.

I (Paul Harmon) wrote an impromptu essay in 2004, Experimental Snow Archaeology, demonstrating how "ancient methods" for moving heavy objects can be seen in everyday life. Moving large, heavy objects with primitive means is not a mystery, nor is it ancient. The methods are still alive and well today, and are still used out of necessity. You just have to know where to look. This is a light-hearted, fun insight. You can download a copy of my paper, PDF Version, Experimental Snow Archaeology, here.
